28 June 2020 is the date for The Welwyn 10K including the Herts Vets Senior County Champs. New start time! 09:55am. A scenic road race held to raise money for local projects and charities that takes place in the rural and picturesque setting of Welwyn village in Hertfordshire.
In 2020 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Welwyn Garden City we are also holding a one off event, the Welwyn 20.20K. Comprising two laps of the course with an added section through Lince’s Livery Yard and over a multi terrain course, all marshaled and starting at the same time as the 10K. A unique opportunity and we will have a special souvenir medal for all 20.20K finishers. Entry is £20.20 with a £2 discount for club members. Find out more about the celebrations at https://www.wgc100.org/
The Committee is also pleased to announce that we will be holding another new event the “Junior Dash” all participants welcome over about 400m in the main field ending through the finish gantry with a fun run medal for all finishers. This is a free event, we ask that anyone under 4 is accompanied but the Dash will all be in sight of the main field.
We plan to hold a junior fun run after the main race starts, this will be within the main field, free and all welcome.
It is suitable for all standards of runner thanks to its outstanding scenery and friendly village setting. Unfortunately, the course is not suitable for wheelchairs. This year the race will take place on Sunday 23rd June 2019 at the end of the Welwyn Festival! The 10km race starts at 11.10am from Singlers Marsh and will be chip-timed. There is a maximum capacity of 800 runners and we came close to selling out in 2018. There are no entries on the day for the 10km. Click for the race route.
